TurnKey Vault backups are always encrypted - when backed up and even when it is sent to be backed up. Customers can choose from various levels of encryption. Customers can also choose from three main levels or encryption, starting with 128-bit AES, moving up to 256 bit AES (military grade protection), and maxing out with 448-bit Blowfish encryption.
The encryption keys are private, meaning they are only held by the customer, not TurnKey Vault. This means only the customer can see their data. We manage the backup, but instead of holding onto the encryption keys, these keys are private and held by the customer. This way the customer and the customer alone can decrypt and access the data.
